Indiaโs largest drone festival, Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022, will be inaugurated today at 10 a.m. in Delhiโs Pragati Maidan by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the drone exhibition centre, the prime minister will meet with Kisan Drone pilots and startups. He will also see open-air drone demonstrations.
PM Modi has tweeted, โAt 10 AM tomorrow, May 27, I will take part in the Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022.โ This forum brings together key stakeholders, including startups, with the aim of increasing Indiaโs presence in the sector. Iโd urge all those interested in technology and innovation to watch the programme.
According to the prime ministerโs office, around 1600 participants, including government officials, foreign diplomats, military forces, central armed police forces, PSUs, private firms, and drone startups, are anticipated to attend the two-day drone festival on May 27 and 28.
PMO said in a statement that, โMore than 70 exhibitors will display various use cases of drones at the exhibition.โ
The Mahotsav will also feature a virtual awarding of drone pilot certificates, product launches, panel discussions, flying demos, and the presentation of a Made in India Drone Taxi prototype, among other activities.
The festival aligns with the federal governmentโs drive for the widespread use of drones in a variety of industries, including agriculture. Jyotiraditya Scindia, the civil aviation minister, opened a drone experience studio at the state-run think tank NITI Aayog earlier this month, where he revealed two policies โ โDrone Shaktiโ and โKisan Drone.โ
New regulatory rules for Kisan Drones have provided a variety of incentives for farmers and organisations alike to deploy drones for commercial purposes. Scindia stated at the event that the cost of drone pilot training courses will fall dramatically in the next 3โ4 months as more institutes obtain the necessary accreditation from the aviation regulatory authority.
